First up, know your skin undertone, we usually fall into 3 camps – warm, cool, or neutral. The most reliable way to find your skin undertone is to look closely at the veins on your inner wrist. If they’re blue or purple, then your skin is cool. Warm skin tones tend to have greenish looking veins and if you can’t really tell, or, your veins are not particularly visible then you have neutral undertones. Cool and warm lipstick shades
When it comes to lipstick it’s a good idea to find shades with similar undertones to yours as these will work to enhance your complexion. If you have cool undertones, choose shades with bluer undertones like plums and wines. If you have warm undertones, corals and terracottas have a warm base that will bring radiance to your skin. Find your lipstick finish
Lipstick finishes can vary from ultra-matte to ultra-shiny and everything in-between.
